Sebsongs Modular is a small eurorack module company from Malmö, Sweden. Since releasing their Euclidean module in 2022, Sebsongs Modular now offers a range of sequencers, utility modules and an intuitive Sampler, all as DIY kits. 2024 will bring some exciting new modules from Sebsongs Modular so be sure to check in here regularly.

Sampler has been out of stock for a little while d

Sampler has been out of stock for a little while due to a revision of the hardware. From today the Sampler comes with presoldered surface mount components, so the DIY build process is quite a bit easier and faster.   As a bonus, the Sampler just became the first Sebsongs Modular module to be available in limited amounts as an assembled module! For now, the assembled modules will be assembled and packaged by myself in my lab here in Malmö, Sweden, hence the limited runs.

Both the DIY and assembled versions of the Sebsongs Modular Sampler are available from @thonksynth today!

Bread & Butter is now available at Thonk!

Bread & Butter is a General MIDI based polyphonic synth voice with 128 selectable instruments plus a drums preset. The sound banks have a synthetic and warm quality to them, and the variety of instruments makes this module a flexible and fun addition in any system. Bread & Butter features the standard V/OCT and GATE inputs for triggering the synth voice.

Thanks to a polyphony of up to 64, the voices will decay independently making it possible to ratchet chords that decay polyphonically. If the HOLD function is engaged, each note will also sustain. In addition, the MIDI input can be used simultaneously with the V/OCT and GATE inputs. For example; trigger the drums on MIDI channel 10 while generating a bass line via the V/OCT/GATE inputs. The synth voices can also be played polyphonically via MIDI.

The module features stereo outputs and the PAN knob lets you spread the polyphonic voices out in the stereo sound field. Parameters such as pitch bend, velocity and instrument selection can be voltage controlled.

Randomly sampled breakbeats with modules from #sebsongsmodular !

Patch notes:
- Polyseq is triggering the breakbeat sample on Radio Music and clocking Odds. Radio Music’s output is fed into the Sampler input.
- Odds is set to generate octaves and the octave range is set just high enough to be able to trigger the sampling CV input on Sampler.
- When the probability on Odds is increased, it starts to generate voltages and the Sampler starts sampling and playing back the breakbeat in a random pattern.
- On Polyseq, playing around with clock divisions on the channel that is clocking Odds creates some variations of the effect.
- There you go - endless fun for a jungle live set!

Introducing the Sebsongs Modular Bread & Butter!

Bread & Butter is a polyphonic General MIDI based synth voice with 128 selectable instruments plus a drums preset! The module features CV/GATE inputs as well as MIDI input (yes, it can play back standard GM midi from your old favorite DOS games).

Bread & Butter features stereo outputs and the pan knob lets you spread the polyphonic voices out in the stereo sound field. Parameters such as pitch bend, velocity and sustain can be voltage controlled. Sustaining notes are easily achieved via the Hold switch on the front panel.

Bread & Butter offers up to 64 voices of polyphony and a great range of sounds in just 6 hp! Available as DIY kit at @thonksynth within the next couple of weeks.

New firmware for the POLYSEQ is coming very soon,

New firmware for the POLYSEQ is coming very soon, with a lot of new features like:

- Programming random sequences without the use of CV/GATE. In idle mode, hold either of the CH1 (major), CH2 (minor), or CH3 (chromatic) switches and then press and hold REC for a while. The REC LED will flash to indicate that a new sequence has been programmed. The programmed random sequence is always 32 steps in length. It programs random notes, rests, ties and glides.
- Monitoring CV and GATE in idle mode. Reflects which channel has been dedicated to which memory location. If the memory rotary switch is set to a memory location that hasn’t been dedicated to a channel, monitoring will come out of channel 1.
- Dynamically adjustable glide time. Hold CH2/GLIDE switch and adjust tempo potentiometer to adjust. Glide time is based on the tempo, and default glide time is one step long. Adjusting the glide time multiplies the default glide time by a factor of 0 to 4. Glide time is also dynamically adjusted based on channel clock division, so really long glides are possible.
- V/OCT transposition of all three cv channels are now possible. To use this, connect both CV and Gate from a v/oct source. Transposition happens when polyseq receives a gate input. The transposition offset is set back down to zero when playback is stopped to avoid confusing situations.
- Resetting all sequences to the first step during playback is now possible. While a sequence is playing, hold MODE and press PLAY to reset the sequence.

The built-in microphone on Sebsongs Sampler and an acoustic guitar can be quite a fun combination. Simple pulse modulation for automating the sampling and an FM modulated LFO on the start parameter. Audio output is fed through a band pass filter and then some added stereo delay.

Introducing the Sebsongs Modular Sampler!

The Sampler is an intuitive 12 bit audio recorder and manipulator designed for short loops and one shots. Sounds can be recorded either with the built in microphone or a mono input jack, which can handle anything from a regular laptop or smartphone to modular level signals. The SAMPLER has granular control of the recorded audio and you can play around with pitch, forward and reverse, start position and loop length (or connect cv/gate to any parameter) to open up a world of interesting sounds!
